Swim Classes and Lessons

The Springfield JCC offers American Red Cross Swim lessons. Below is a list of classes available based on your child's ability.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons


One 30-minute session - $26 (JCC member) / $41 (General Public)
Five 30-minute sessions - $125 (JCC member)
Ten 30-minute sessions - $240 (JCC member)

One semi-private 30-minute session - $41 (JCC member)
Five semi-private 30-minute sessions - $200 (JCC member)
Ten semi-private 30-minute sessions - $390 (JCC member)




Super Tot Gym and Swim

3-5 years

Wednesdays 1:00 - 2:45PM
September 17, October 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, December 3, 10

$128 (JCC members) and $152 (General Public)


The class will consist of forty-five minutes of physical education activities emphasizing gross motor skills followed by pool activities including swim instruction and games.




Swim for Tots

6 months through 3 years

Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:00PM or 7:05 - 7:35PM
September 16, October 14, 21, 28, November 18, 25, December 2, 9

Saturdays 10:00 - 10:30AM or 10:35 - 11:05 AM
October 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15, 22, December 6, 13

Children learn to be comfortable in the water and will learn to swim with a bubble and/or cheerios.
Parents must participate in this class.




Beginner Swim Lessons

For ages 3+

Level One – This class is designed to help your child become more comfortable in the water. Participants learn how to blow bubbles, go underwater, back float, kicking on their back and basic front stroke.

Level Two – Children should know how to swim on their own for a short distance in Level Two. Participants will focus on swimming with their faces in the water, learning the front crawl and backstroke and basic diving skills.

Level Three – Children begin to learn formal strokes such as freestyle, elementary backstroke and the breaststroke kick. There is also an increased focus on endurance and being able to swim long distances without stopping.

Advanced Swim Lessons

For ages 3+

Level Four – This class introduces breaststroke, rotary kick, sculling and survival float. The focus will be increased proficiency and endurance of front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, elementary backstroke,
breaststroke and treading water.

Level Five - Level five introduces flip turns, sidestroke, survival swimming, long shallow dives and tuck and pike surface dives. The focus will be continued proficiency, stroke refinement and endurance of front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke.

Level Six – At this level the intent is to refine strokes so swimmers swim them with ease. The following
competitive strokes will be worked on to increase efficiency and endurance: freestyle (crawl stroke), back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly.
