Springfield JCC Inclement Weather Information for Early Childhood, Elementary, Health & P.E. programs.

 EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

When Longmeadow Schools have a ONE OR TWO HOUR DELAY, all HALF TIME programs will begin at 9:00 a.m.
All FULL TIME  programs will begin at 8:30 a.m.
 

 
ELEMENTARY PROGRAMS

-KIDS SPACE

Snow days are available for working parents only (those parents who need to be at work when their child’s school is closed).  The following procedures and guidelines will apply:

1. Upon hearing about the closing of your child’s school, please call the JCC at 8:00 a.m. to confirm your child’s attendance in Kid’s Space (739-4715).  Drop off time is 8:30 a.m. at the JCC, and pick up (Monday through Thursday) at 6:00 p.m., unless weather demands earlier closing.  Valid emergency numbers must be in place.  Friday pick up time will vary by shabbat.  Payment charges and credits will be adjusted accordingly.

2.  Children who still have school that day and who have been previously scheduled for pick up and/or afterschool care will be cared for as planned.  LKS (Little Kids Space) on delayed school openings begins at 8:30 a.m.  (there is no early drop off).  If your child is normally in morning kindergarten, you will be charged for the added time. 

3. If there are any changes in your work schedule during that day, please contact the JCC.  Additional communication can only help serve the best needs of your child.

4. Should school dismiss early due to snow conditions, we will automatically pick your child up if he/she is registered for Kids’ Space that day.  (Heritage children will walk to the JCC.)

5.  Please make sure on snow days that your child has proper play attire for outside (dry socks, snow pants, etc.), swim suits, towel and lunch (when attending programs at the JCC, a dairy, non-meat lunch is required).

6.  Kids Space will follow the Longmeadow, East Longmeadow and Springfield public school schedule for snow days.  If your child attends another school and you have questions regarding Snow Day policy, please call the JCC Elementary Department.
 

-CAP  (Children At Play extended care program)

Snow days are available for working parents only (those parents who need to be at work when their child’s school is closed).  The following procedures and guidelines apply:

1.  Upon hearing about the closing of your child’s school, please call the JCC at 8:00 a.m. to confirm your child’s attendance in the Kids Space program (739-4715).  Drop off time is 8:30 a.m. at the JCC and pick up (Monday through Thursday) at 6:00 p.m., unless weather demands earlier closing.  Valid emergency numbers must be in place.  Friday pick up time will vary.  There is an additional charge of $45/day for this service.

2.  Children who still have school that day (i.e. delayed openings) and who have been previously scheduled for before school care will be cared for as planned beginning at 8:30 a.m.

3.  If there are any changes in your work schedule during that day, please contact the JCC.  Additional communication can only help serve the best needs of your child.

4.  Should school dismiss early due to snow conditions, we will automatically take your child to CAP that day and he/she will await your pickup.  Please be mindful of the extra time you will need for pick-up.

5.  Please make sure on snow days that your child has proper play attire for outside (dry socks, snow pants, etc.), swimsuits, towel and lunch (when attending programs at the JCC, a dairy, non-meat lunch is required).

6.  CAP will follow the E. Longmeadow public school schedule for snow days.  If you have questions regarding Snow Day Policy, please call the JCC office, 739-4715.
 

 
HEALTH AND P.E. PROGRAMS

Gym and Swim Class

If there is a one or two hour delay in Longmeadow, there are still class.

If Longmeadow schools are closed, gym and swim class will be cancelled.

Pool Fitness Classes

There will be class at the regular time.

Morning Aerobics

There will be aerobics at the regular time.

Babysitting

There will babysitting at the regular time.

After School Classes

If there is a one or two hour delay in Longmeadow, there are still classes.

If school is cancelled in Longmeadow, then there is no class.
