There is nothing more exciting than watching a child learn a new skill. Your children will master many new skills
over the course of their lifetime, but never quite so exuberantly as those in the pre-school years
. We will help your children reach those developmental milestones through an environment rich in authentic hands on experiences. Here at the Springfield JCC, your children will learn through all of their senses to develop a love of learning that will carry them through their academic career.
The Early Learning Center is licensed by the state of Massachusetts and holds national accreditation by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). We follow the Massachusetts standards and guidelines based on the common core curriculum.
Our professional staff: All of our teachers are certified by the state of Massachusetts Early Education and Care. We have a passion for educating little people and delight in watching them grow. The professional staff receives 20 hours of professional development each school year. All individuals working with your child have received background checks by the state of Massachusetts.
The JCC Early Learning Center is a secure environment. Each family is issued a special pass card in order to enter the Center, either from the Playscape door, or the JCC hallway. All other individuals must enter through the JCC main doors and be escorted down to the JCC Early Learning Center.
A Day in the Life of a Preschooler:
7:30 - 9:15 am: Drop Off and Structured Free Play
We encourage you to be sure your child arrives by 9:00 a.m. so that he or she can get greet friends and choose an activity of his or her choice to jump start the day.
9 am - noon: Academic Morning
This is the time of day when children are most ready to learn. We plan a morning of both active and quiet academic activities. We fill this busy morning with:
Morning Meeting (circle time)
- Children learn special events of the day; discuss the weather and calendar; and receive Leadership Jobs.
- Teachers direct age-appropriate academic lessons, Judaic values, theme based social studies, and child directed discovery and sensory exploration.
(All lesson plans are created based on the State Educational Frameworks. This curriculum provides age appropriate skilled base learning tools that encompasses all educational criteria leading towards successful Kindergarten entrance.)
- Once each week, your child learns through specialists in music, Judaic education, swimming, and fitness.
Outdoor and Indoor Gross Motor Activity
- Your child will have fun expanding on gross motor skills in both an indoor and an outdoor environment. We use our large muscles and gain confidence in all we can do.(See our facilities page to learn about the expansive areas available at the JCC.)
