Infant/Toddler and Preschool Teachers

We are offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus when you join our ELC team!

Are you passionate about teaching young children? Would you love a work environment that is

Early Learning Center at the Springfield JCC is now hiring full-time lead teachers in our infant,
toddler, and preschool programs. Our classrooms are developmentally appropriate learning
environments that align with the National Association for the Education of Young Children
standards and the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations.

● Using knowledge of child development and learning in context to create a caring
community of learners
● Engaging in reciprocal partnerships with families and fostering community connections
● Observing, documenting, and assessing children’s development and learning
● Teaching to enhance each child’s development and learning
● Understanding and using content areas to plan and implement an engaging curriculum
designed to meet goals that are important and meaningful for children, families, and the
community in the present as well as the future
● Making decisions as an early childhood professional that exemplify ethical, intentional,
and reflective judgment and practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Associates, Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education
○ Also, at least nine months of work experience in related age groups
○ For Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher, a course in Infant-Toddler Care is required
OR
● Associates, Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Related Field plus 12 ECE credits
○ Also, at least nine months of work experience in related age groups
○ For Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher, a course in Infant-Toddler Care is required
● Current CPR/First Aid certification or completion upon hire
● Current EEC Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR)
● Follow all EEC Minimum Health Requirements for Educators

Salary:
$31,000-$44,000 ($15.00-$21.00/per hour)

Principal Responsibilities:

Early Learning Center at the Springfield JCC is now hiring full-time and part-time assistant
teachers in our infant, toddler, and preschool programs.
Our classrooms are developmentally appropriate learning environments that align with the
National Association for the Education of Young Children standards and the Massachusetts
Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations.

● Using knowledge of child development and learning in context to create a caring
community of learners
● Engaging in reciprocal partnerships with families and fostering community connections

● Must be at least 18 years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Will work at all times under the direct supervision of at least a teacher-qualified staff person.

● Must have experience working with children six years old and younger.
● Current CPR/First Aid certification or completion upon hire
● Follow all EEC Minimum Health Requirements for Educators
Salary:

$26,000-$31,000 (starting at $14 per hour)

Camp Counselor (Always Accepting Applications)

Position Summary: 

Summer Camp at the J is an amazing opportunity – and it could change your life!

From June – August, you will help guide a group of campers through our award winning camp with the help of management staff and specialists.  Our campers enjoy the outdoors, swim and visit specialist groups thorough the day.  Counselors will undergo orientation and training to help them learn how to optimize camper experience.  Moreover, summer camp counselors just have fun!  Enjoy time outside and make new friends all while helping to change lives in your community!

Essential Functions:

  • Creates and implements programming for campers with help from co-counselor
  • Supervisors children as they enjoy camp
  • Mediates conflicts in an age-appropriate manner
  • Maintains an open and positive communication with parents.  

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16+ years old and able to pass a background check.
  • The Counselor will lead the camp group in all activities and assist the Unit Head in planning and executing a diverse and developmentally appropriate schedule including art projects, sports and games, and a variety of other activities.  
  • The Counselor will be responsible for working with the Unit Head and Co-Counselor to maintain positive interactions and communication with camp families.   
  • The Counselor will lead the camp group in transitions and all aspects of group management.  
  • The Counselor reports directly to the Unit Head.  
  • The Counselor is responsible for maintaining the attendance and is responsible for the health and safety of all children in his/her group.
  • The Counselor will fully participate in weekly staff training.  

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift/carry 45 lbs.
