Film Discussion: “The Peanut Butter Falcon” and “The Drummer and the Keeper”

December 17, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join us for a virtual film discussion and Q&A with Michelle Theroux, Executive Director of the Berkshire Hills Music Academy, about two award-winning films The Peanut Butter Falcon and The Drummer and the Keeper. Both of these films highlight the special bond that can form between typical young adults and their special needs counterparts. The Drummer and the Keeper is a moving debut feature film directed and written by Nick Kelly and starring Dermot Murphy, Jacob McCarthy, and Peter Coonan. It won Best Feature at film festivals in Ireland and London. The Peanut Butter Falcon showcases the tremendous acting talent of Shia LeBeouf, Zack Gottsagan, and Dakota Johnson. Zack made history at the 2020 Academy Awards as the first-ever presenter with Down syndrome.

We invite you to watch the films on your own on Amazon Prime Video prior to December 17 in preparation for this film discussion.

This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register.

This event is presented by Kehillah, the Special Needs Department at the Springfield JCC and is co-sponsored by the Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival.
