If you are at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor. It is a fun and meaningful job that is in high demand. Plus, Red Cross certification is recognized nationwide, so you can work anywhere in the United States. WSI certificate will be awarded upon completion of a practical and written test.
Become certified to teach the following:
- Parent and child aquatics
- Preschool aquatics
- Safety training for swim coaches
- Longfellow’s WHALE Tales
- Water safety courses and presentations
Prerequisites include the ability to demonstrate proficient skills in:
- Front crawl
- Back crawl
- Elementary backstroke
- 1-Minute back float
- 1-Minute water tread
Cost: $350 members, $400 general public
