Outdoor Recreation at Your J

Mother nature has called and we have answered!  Spring has sprung at the J, and we’re creating more and more ways to get fit, celebrate community and enjoy the great outdoors, together, yet socially distant.
Outdoor Group Exercise & Recreation Updates (Beginning the week of April 4th)
Zumba:
  • Liz and Jess miss you too much to continue “Zoom-ing” from home. They can’t wait to see you on the tennis courts on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM, Fridays at 8:00 AM, and Saturdays at 8:00 AM.

Cycling:

  • Cari will be cycling on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in the staff parking lot in addition to her Saturday class at 8:00 AM.
  • Cari will also be adding a 90-minute ride on the first Saturday of every month starting April 10. Don’t want to ride the full 90? Not to worry! It’s not a requirement for participation.

NEW Bootcamp:

  • Susan’s Bootcamp is back! Join her on Fridays (beginning April 9) at 9:00 AM on the tennis courts. Every week is a different challenge!
Outdoor Walking Club
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 AM (weather permitting)
Starts Tuesday, April 13
Join Adult Director Bev Nadler and a member of the Health and Wellness staff for an
invigorating spring walk departing from the green awning at the J. We will begin
with some stretching and our walk will take us through the neighborhoods around the Springfield JCC. Whether you’re a fast or slow walker, alone or with a friend, all are welcome. We will do a 30-minute walk and circle back to the J, and for those who would like to continue, we will proceed for another 30 minutes. If walking is your main form of exercise, learn ways to kick it up a notch to get greater benefit. Get back outside, enjoy the beautiful weather, and reacquaint yourself with some J members.
Garden Club
Do you enjoy gardening? Join us in our new initiative to “Beautify our J.” Let us know if you have interest in helping to identify areas for outdoor improvement or if you would like to help plant flowers around the J.
Once we determine the level of interest, we can schedule a safe, socially distanced meeting to discuss details and tour the outside area.

We are gaining on this virus. We are able to open up more activities, but we need to continue to be vigilant. Mask up, clean your equipment pre- and post-workout, social distance at a minimum of 6 feet apart, but more importantly, have fun. Together we can and are doing great things.
