Kugel Recipe: Noodle Kugel for Shavuot
Janie Booth was a beloved member of the J Family for many years .
She touched the hearts and stomachs of many in our community with her kindness and her delectable food. Since it is the custom to eat dairy on Shavuot, we are sharing a recipe for which she was well known, her Noodle Kugel. Enjoy!
Janie’s Noodle Kugel
- 8 oz. medium egg noodles, cooked, cooled and drained
- ½ lb. softened cream cheese
- ½ c sugar
- 6 TBSP. melted butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 qt. half and half
Place egg noodles in a 9x13x2 inch greased pan. In a mixer blend cream cheese and sugar. Add 2 TBSP. butter and eggs and mix well, then add half and half and continue mixing. Pour mixture over egg noodles. Sprinkle frosted flakes (or corn flakes sprinkled with sugar) on top and drizzle remaining 4 TBSP. of butter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until firm and brown. Remove from oven and let kugel set before cutting.
