One of the things that makes summer camp at the Springfield JCC so special is the people - the friendly campers and counselors who we spend time with every summer day.

Many of our campers return year after year. Many of our counselors come back every year too. And some of our campers even come back as counselors! Just like Kayla.

Meet the team

Kayla first came to camp as a shy 10-year-old. She had so much fun that she came back every summer for the next five years! At age 16, she became a counselor, and came back every summer for another five years! This summer, she will be a Unit Head, leading a team of counselors and guiding our campers through a summer of fun. ☀️

When Kayla can’t be at camp, she is studying education at UMASS and working as site-coordinator for our after-school, Children-at-Play (CAP) program.

Camp skills

For Kayla, camp became a second home. She grew up here. As a shy child, camp was her safe space where she could come out of her shell, develop social skills, and learn to meet new people. She made some of her best friends here.

Awesome activities

Some of Kayla’s favorite activities at camp are the traditional camp games, in particular Star Wars and Gaga, both fast-paced, dodgeball-like games. We’ll be playing these, and other popular games like color wars and Goldrush, at camp this summer, so come and join in the fun!

We can’t wait to see you at camp for a summer of fun! ☀️

If you have any questions about summer camp here at the J, please email me, Stephanie Albano, Camp and Elementary Director, at salbano@springfieldjcc.org or call 413-739-4715. I will be happy to help.
