Looking to maintain or improve your cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, or overall well-being? The Springfield JCC’s Health and Wellness Center offers 30+ group exercise classes ranging from aquatics and outdoor cycling to pilates and yoga. With classes offered every day of the week, we’re sure to have something that suits your life and schedule. Our Group Exercise classes are free for our members.

Group Exercise Class Descriptions
Aqua Aerobics
Water aerobics is a great way to tone your muscles, improve flexibility and cardiovascular health. It is a low impact whole body workout.
Beginner's Yoga
Not flexible? Never seen a yoga mat? That’s fine! In Beginner Yoga, we create a safe and open environment for brand new yoga students or those who want to brush up on their fundamentals. This class will move at a slower pace and will focus on proper alignment and form. All levels and beginner-friendly!
Circuit Training
A fun mix of a dozen cardio and strength exercises using equipment and body weight for a full body workout with restorative stretches included.
Exercise for Parkinson's
A Parkinson’s-specific exercise class to keep you moving and doing more of what you want to do. Exercise geared to help improve your PD symptoms including posture, gait, balance, strength and flexibility.
Gentle/Seated Yoga
The gentle yoga practice is for those of all levels who want to stretch their bodies and create a sense of calm in the body and mind. This practice focuses on breath and slow movements. Relaxing and restorative, gentle yoga is a great way to take a break from the fast paced nature of most of our lives.
Senior Strength
Improve quality of life as you age by working to strengthen your body and your heart with a circuit based workout that can be adapted to all levels of fitness.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa means joining movement and breath as you flow through a sequence of asanas. This class is energetic and includes both seated and standing poses, balancing poses, backbends, inversions, and hip openers. This is a moving meditation for the purpose of creating strength and flexibility in the body and mind. Include modifications for folks of all levels.
Zumba Gold
A lower-intensity, modified version of the Zumba dance class that's designed for active older adults. It focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination, while also providing cardiovascular and muscular conditioning, and flexibility
Barre
Up for the challenge of a slow burn workout? This low-to-no-impact fitness style targets arms, glutes, thighs, and abs, anchoring your core and improving your posture. Be prepared with a pair of socks (grips are helpful) and a sweat towel.
Body Bar
You will work with a weight bar improving your strength with balance, stretching and a bit of cardio to make this a total body work out. You choose the weight of the bar making this class appropriate for all fitness levels.
Cycling
Experience a high-intensity cardio class on stationary bikes. Hit the hills, power the sprints, and chase the competition. All levels welcome! Limit to 28 participants per class. Remember to reserve your bike today!
Intro to Yoga
Intro to yoga follows a vinyasa flow model, but uses poses that are easily made accessible to newer participants. You are encouraged to ask questions and give feedback during class. Modifications will be offered as we go. The instructor may provide verbal and physical assistance according to the participants’ comfort level.
Hatha Yoga
Focus on breathing techniques, yoga poses, and meditation. Hatha yoga is a gentle form of yoga that's good for beginners or those looking to deepen their practice and find their balance..
Papaya Pilates
A 50-minute mat Pilates class. Pilates builds a balanced body with an emphasis on core strength, alignment, and mobility. This class is open to adults and suitable for all levels.
Strength and Sculpt
Body sculpting exercises that are great for all levels. A variety of equipment will be used to keep things fresh.
Zumba Toning
A dance fitness class that combines cardio and strength training to tone and sculpt your body. It's similar to a regular Zumba class, but with added resistance from weighted toning sticks or dumbbells to help you focus on specific muscle groups.
Better Balance
The average American loses 40% of their muscle by age 70 leading to a loss of balance and an increase in falls. Balance training will focus on strengthening the major muscles of the body and core to offset age related muscle loss and will include exercises specifically working balance.
Body Work
A 30-minute full body workout using weights suitable for all fitness levels, combined with 10 minutes of core workout.
Dance Fit
Get yourself moving to the music! This fun, upbeat class will raise your heartrate by combining elements of dance and traditional cardio fitness. No prior dance experience necessary. No special shoes or attire required.
Gentle Yoga
Yin inspired deep stretch class. This passive flow will consist of a series of longer held seated postures that touch the connective tissues, ligaments, joints, tendons, and bones in the body. This class will incorporate both deep breathing and meditative practices. This all-levels class is slower-paced and a perfect way to wind down and relax after a long day in preparation for a deep night’s sleep!
Power Yoga
A blend of Yoga and Pilates that focuses on strength, flexibility, breath, and mindfulness.
Pound Pro
Channel your inner rockstar with this full body cardio-jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing, and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.
Zumba
Using a fusion of Latin and International music, this class will get you dancing with dynamic, exciting, and high-energy steps and rhythms, creating a fun cardio based workout.

*On the first Saturday of the month only, the morning Saturday Cycling class is from 8:00 - 9:30 AM.
