The safety and security of our members, guests, and staff is always a top priority.

The JCC's security measures are managed by a contracted security company, SJCC Security Services, Inc. SJCC Security Services holds a Massachusetts State Watch Guard license that is certified and regulated by the Massachusetts State Police Certification Unit. It provides a team of officers, all current or recently retired Massachusetts police personnel. Each officer is fully licensed and qualified per Massachusetts State regulations to protect and serve the community, and to carry firearms. In addition to passing an annual firearms qualification test consistent with the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), officers receive training aligned with the Massachusetts POST Commission standards, including legal updates, use-of-force standards, first aid/CPR, and specialized tactical and medical responses.

The security team is supported by state-of-the-art security systems which control access and monitor activity within the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Members are required to scan their fob or app to gain entry through locked doors; guests may ring the bell for assistance.

For special events, security is supplemented by additional officers stationed where necessary (for example, outside during summer camp). We also have a strong working relationship with local law enforcement in Longmeadow and Springfield who provide support as needed.

Our security policies are regularly reviewed, tested, and updated to include ongoing training.

These layers of protection work together to provide a safe, welcoming environment for you and your family.

SJCC Security Services Inc. is available for hire by Jewish organizations in the region

In addition to providing security coverage at the Springfield JCC, SJCC Security Services officers are available for hire by Jewish organizations in western Massachusetts and the Berkshires. Our officers are recognizable within the Jewish community and are uniquely trained to understand the significance of Jewish holidays and practices. When at all possible, the same officer is paired with the same Jewish organization so that the congregants and participants can get to know our officer(s) and so that the officer(s) can become familiar with the facility and its guests.
