Please allow us to introduce you to our new Health & Wellness staff!

Abby, Ana, Davian, and Stephen are joining the team to bring more group exercise classes and other programming to our members. Be sure to check out their classes and say hi when you see them at the J.

  Abigail Chernick
Abby is joining the team as the new Assistant Director of Wellness & Recreation. Abby will be overseeing Aquatics and relaunching popular programming such as birthday parties and other Health & Wellness events.
 
Abby has a master's degree in public administration with a non-profit management concentration which complements her bachelor's degree in movement science. Abby's sports are field hockey and basketball; and she's both a player and a coach. On the varsity teams at Longmeadow High School and Westfield State, she also took part in the national and European Maccabi Games, representing Springfield and Team USA. Abby and her family are longtime members of our JCC community.
Ana Harmon - Gaga Dance
Ana, a certified Gaga teacher since 2019, teaches both professionals and beginners. She trained in Tel Aviv, studied at Boston Ballet’s pre-professional program for 13 years, and joined Ballet Austin II in 2008. After completing MASA Dance Journey in 2010, she danced with Kamea Dance Company for three years, touring internationally. Davian Madho - Better Balance, Senior Strength, and Exercise for Parkinson's
Davian has 10 years' experience as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. While working at a variety of fitness and community centers locally, Davian has spent many hours with clients in both a 1-on-1 and a group setting. Davian's main focus is active aging and classes for seniors including Better Balance, Senior Strength, and Exercise for Parkinson's which take place at the J every Monday and Friday, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM in the Functional Fitness Room. Stephen Posner - Tai Chi
Dr. Stephen Posner was Professor of Physical Education and Head Coach of the men’s gymnastics program at Springfield College for many years. He also served as the Tennis Director and Head Men’s Coach at Western New England University. Coach Posner has studied Tai Chi for the past eight years, earning a Tai Chi certification through Harvard Health Publishing. He has taught Tai Chi at the Springfield College LifeLong Learning program, and at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing. Visit our website for more info about Tai Chi classes at the J.
