In-person Event

As the United States approaches its 250th birthday, Rabbi Charles Savenor invites us to reflect on how the Hebrew Bible is the genesis of the American experiment. From the vision of the Founding Fathers to the rhetoric of emancipation, protest, and civic responsibility, biblical texts have served as a moral and imaginative force in America's pursuit of a more just society.

Through vivid historical examples and resonant passages from the Tanakh, Rabbi Savenor shows how Jewish ideas have guided presidents, inspired reformers, and helped Americans actualize what freedom demands, what justice requires, and what leadership looks like.

About the Presenter: Rabbi Charles E. Savenor is the Executive Director of Civic Spirit, which provides training and support in civic education to Jewish, Catholic, and Christian day schools.

Co-sponsored by Temple Beth El, Sinai Temple, and the Springfield JCC. Funding provided by the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

Pre-registration is required for this free event.
