Warm and Welcoming Gallery Space

Gallery walls in the Springfield JCC’s Adult Lounge showcase a wide range of local, national, and international artists. Throughout the year, JCC members and visitors can enjoy a lively mix of exhibits, from painting and photography to ceramics and mixed media.

Members of the general public are asked to check in at the Welcome Desk prior to viewing the current exhibit on display.

Sadie & Eli Gurvitch Memorial Art Exhibit

October 18 - December 13, 2026

Sponsored by the Lepow-Gurvitch family in loving memory of Sadie and Eli Gurvitch, this annual group art exhibit highlights the creative efforts of non-professional senior artists. The exhibit is dedicated primarily to Sadie Gurvitch, who in her 60s developed a strong interest in art and painting. Please join us for the opening reception on Sunday, October 18 from 1:00-3:00 PM.

Adults (ages 55+) who live in the Pioneer Valley are eligible to submit work. Note that the show is open to non-professional artists only.

A Reason to Remember: Five Jewish Families in Nazi Germany and Why Their Stories Matter Today

November 12 - December 18, 2026

In 1933, Roth, Germany was a village of only 500 people. The five Jewish families in Roth worked, played, and went to school side by side with their neighbors. That changed radically after Hitler came to power. The lives of these families were systematically dismantled and destroyed.

What occurred in Roth is a microcosm of what happened to Jews throughout Nazi-occupied Europe. By viewing the exhibit, visitors learn how Nazi decrees affected the daily lives of Jewish families and develop a better understanding of the step-by-step process that culminated in the Holocaust. It prompts visitors to consider where and when they can speak up and take action to interrupt prejudice, racism, and discrimination.

The exhibit is appropriate for adults and students in Grade 6 and older. On view in the JCC's Youth & Family Studio (the former Hatikvah Holocaust Education Center).

Join us for the opening reception on Sunday, November 15, from 1:00-3:00 PM, featuring remarks by exhibit co-author Deborah Roth-Howe, who is the daughter of a survivor of Roth.
