What is Therapeutic Massage and How Can It Help You
A growing body of research supports the health benefits of massage therapy. It can work out muscle tension and increase range of motion, help relieve stress and reduce anxiety, ease pain and soreness, enhance circulation, immunity and digestion, and manage the symptoms and effects of various conditions.
Sheila uses several different massage techniques. She selects the technique based on each client's history and needs to ensure the best possible outcome for your session.
- Swedish – a relaxation technique which uses lighter pressure to relax muscles and reduce tension
- Deep Tissue – penetrates deeper into the muscles and connective tissues to release chronic tension and knots
- Reflexology - applies pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, and ears to stimulate energy flow, relieve stress, and promote overall wellness
- Trigger Point Therapy – pinpoints and releases specific tight areas to break down knots and alleviate tension
- Myofascial Release – addresses the fascia (the network of connective tissue surrounding and supporting all the structures in the body) to release restrictions and ease pain and tension
- Hot Stone – smooth, heated basalt lava stones provide heat and pressure to enhance muscle relaxation and aid in circulation (back, neck, and shoulders only)
- Pregnancy – a specially-adapted massage to relieve aches and pains, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve circulation while prioritizing the safety of mom and baby (prenatal through postpartum)
- Reiki – a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that uses a gentle, hands-over or hands-on approach to promote balance and harmony within the body
-
Chair - a short massage, received while seated and fully clothed, focusing on the upper body to relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, and promote relaxation
